Film Memphis - The Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commissioin

Client: The Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commission / Live From Memphis
Project:
Branding, Design, Site Development and Webisodes

Description:
"We want films to come here, hire our crew, stay in our hotels, rent our locations and make films."
- Linn Sitler, Memphis and Shelby County Music Commissioner.

This was the "Call-to-Action" I was given during the planning stage of this project.  A co-production with Live From Memphis, my goal was to create a distinct brand that aligned seamlessly with Film Commissioner Sitler's statement, while keeping the actual site clean and navigation easy.  The result was FilmMemphis.  It's simple.  It's clear.  It's concise.

Once the branding was approved, I moved onto developing the actual site.  There were three main facets to the development of this site: one, in keeping with the nature of filmmaking, it needed to be visually bold; two, given the demanding schedules of their staff, it needed to be easy to maintain; and three, perhaps most important, it needed to adequately serve a very diverse user-base.

The bold imagery on the front page, and accompanying graphics throughout, communicates clearly, that this site is about film, more specifically, it's about film in Memphis.

I created a clear call to action menu on the right-hand side of the site, integrating third-party services such as Reelscout and Tennessee filming incentive packages. I set up feeds from other local film and media outlets, such as, Live From Memphis, the Commercial Appeal, and the Memphis Flyer.  This wholly integrated system is multipurpose: It keeps the site filled with daily updated content, guides users to unique sources of information, supports the local film and media community, and since the majority is done automatically, it allows the Film Commission staff to go about their daily routines uninterrupted with website maintenance.

Unique to this site is the webseries "Film Memphis TV" created and distributed by Live From Memphis.  An online webseries, Film Memphis TV showcases Memphis-based productions and crew and celebrated past film commission clients such as David Gale, Executive Vice President of New Media at MTV. Film Memphis TV provides an additional visual platform to further drive home Commissioner Sitler's Call to action.
